Guy uses Tree as a Spare Tire

What happens when you don't have spare tire, well try sticking a tree in the wheel well and use it as a substitute. This is what one driver did when he had no other way to get home. All I can say is this can't be legal, what would a cop do if he saw someone driving down the road like this. What makes it even more embarrassing for the individual is the fact that they are driving on the freeway.

Cadillac V6 SRX Turbo Discontinued

News has just surfaced that Cadillac will be discounting their turbocharged SRX due to low sales. 90% of the sales have been with the 3.0 liter model.

It's not a big surprise since consumers want a SUV with higher fuel economy during the recession. It's too bad, because the turbocharged Cadillac SRX was pretty bad ass.

The turbo powered 2.8 liter V6 pumped out 300 horsepower.

Teamspeed forum members caught a glimpse of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics flying around the track for a photo shoot. It's obvious that the gray version of the VED is marginally different than the white concept BMW. It's not for sure when the VED will go up for sale, but some sources say 2013, with a price tag of $200k.

NeSmith & DeNooyer Chevrolet COPO Camaros

Two GM dealerships are bringing back the high performance COPO Camaros from the late 60s, except this time around they will not be known as the Berger, Nickey or Yenko Camaros. DeNooyer Chevrolet in Albany New York has decided to drop a LSX 454 engine in one Camaro, while the other dealership NeSmith Chevrolet decided to drop a supercharged LS9 engine in another Camaro. Both of the Camaros are nearly putting out 700 horsepower. They sure are sweet!

SafeTrak Electronic Vision System

Each day automotive manufacturers are creating new ways to improve safety for drivers across the world. This time around it's not for the average car consumer, except for commercial truck drivers. Auto supplier Takata is introducing a new driver-alertness warning system to the commercial trucking industry to keep drivers awake. The SafeTrak electronic vision system will make a sound if the trucker drives erratically or drifts into another lane.

Recent AAA study shows that drowsy driving is 16.5 percent of fatal car crashes in the United States. And if Takata can prevent that percentage from crashing, this new technology could possibly save around 5000 lives each year. The SafeTrak system is available in North America through manufacturers including Freightliner, Kenworth, Volvo and Mack.

A decade ago the plant had more then 5,000 workers and produced nearly 22,000 component parts daily. Ford Stop/Start Technology

Beginning in 2012, Ford will start equipping some vehicles with their new start and stop technology. The new technology basically shuts down your engine when your car comes to a stop, cutting down on fuel use and emissions. Overall improving the mileage of Ford's cars and saving money for their buyers.

A Ford spokesman said that engineers are still developing the technology, so it will keep the pressure up in the automatic-transmission fluid when the engine is stopped. But so far it sounds like a really good idea for the bad economy. Makes me wonder though, will their be some sort of on and off button if you want to keep your car running when you're stopped. I know some car enthusiasts that love to the rumble of their exhaust.
